September 26, 2013 was a beautiful day, blue sky without a cloud in sight. The moon would not rise until well after 10:00PM and as I would be traveling along US 93, I thought it a good idea to stop in Joshua Tree Forest. The plan was to arrive slightly before sunset, find a good location, and then wait for darkness to take some spectacular star shots on a moonless sky with Joshua trees in silhouette. To my dismay, as I neared the Joshua trees, previously non-existent clouds gathered in mass. Not to be defeated, I went to Plan B: Joshua trees against a storm filled sky!
